My father is a HUGE Musky fisherman and has asked for a mountable camera for Father's Day to capture pictures of his catches before he sets them free. Any ideas?

thanks for the sunset hours tip, you were so right. Caught my first three seatrout and a garfish in just a few hours fishing. I wrote some words about it but it is in dutch so for the dutch people here, it s on www.vliegvissers.nl

Sorry m8 did look for mullets for you (and myself ofcourse) but didn't see any. When i was walking in the harbour of Gilleleje at dinner time i thought i saw a mullet but id turnd out to be a rather large seatrout :). Some locals told me also they should be there any day now.

It does sound easy just to put a video on YouTube, but trust me: producuíng something useful in video is a lot of work - even more than taking stills. We do what we can to illustrate these patterns, but if we want to sleep at night and go fishing from time to time, a simple pattern like this will usually have to do with a few stills of the fly and some text.

Remember that we do this unpaid in our spare time...

Nice fly! Have been looking for a pattern just like this. Do agree with the previous comment from Bruce, would be nice with more pictures. One simple way would be to film while tying, putting it on youtube or something like that, linking to this page.

Many years ago, I used to bait fish for Yellow's in the Orkney area. I recently started fishing for Yellows on fly in the Vaal, but haven't been successful yet. During my "bait years" the most successful bait (amongst crickets, locusts, shrimp, whole corn etc) was thumbnail size crabs. Do you have a fly pattern for crab, and how successful is it as a fly, compared to other flies that have been identified so far, for Yellows. Having caught, trout, Tigerfish etc on fly, I look forward to the day I hook my first decent Yellow. Thanks for a stunning article.

A sinking line would be fine. We don't fish that deep (2-3 meter max), but getting down is one key. And do bring your own flies. Pike aren't picky!

And of course we're not quite up to 40 deg C here in a hot summer, but up to 30 in the day and not below 20 in the night is plenty warm for both man and beast...

Those flies look very similar to flies I use for Barra and Murray Cod, I'll bring some with me. What water depth were you fishing with these sinking lines?.
P.S when you say a hot summer what do you mean? down here that would be about 40 degrees C.

What a great article - I have cast a 9' #5 Harvest traveller fly rod and was very impressed.

Most lakes are private and offer no fishing without a license, but getting a license for many of the lakes is no big issue. In most case you will also need a boat or a float tube.

There are public lakes, and being in Rungsted offers an easy drive to Lake Boegeholm (Bøgeholm Sø¸), which is public (free) and can be fished wading. Unfortunately the high summer isn't the best time of year for pike in a shallow lake, but it may be worth a try anyway. Regarding the sea trout, Hornbaek is a good bet, but again the time of year means hard conditions. You will need to fish at night - late evening and early morning. You can be lucky during the day but the odds are slim. The wind also has to comply, which is not always the case.

I'm sure you can find company through your post here and I myself may be tempted to show an Aussie how to behave here ;-)

If you want to get the best tips on trout and grayling patterns for Trysil River, you shoulld post a topic in this forum and tell them where in the river you are going to fish, and when.

Fluefiskesiden.no is by far the best place to get info about troutfishing, patterns etc in Norway.
If someone knows exactely what patterns to use where and when, they will defenately use this sites forum to discuss those things. :wink:

(it seems that you are scandinavian, so it should not be much problem to understand the norwegian language on the site)

We'd love to do step-by-steps for all ur patterns, but it's a lot of work - like in A LOT!
So for the simpler ones you will have to do with the pictures of the finished fly and the description.

Very nice and well done...But (there is always a but) this shrimp, since it'is used a bendback hook, will not swim upside down?
